The college was originally established in 1959 by Roan Copper Mines. At the time, it offered training programs for Medical Assistants and Zambia Enrolled Nurses. These programs played an important role in preparing healthcare workers to serve the community. However, in the early 1980s, the training programs were closed due to financial constraints.
After many years, the college was re-opened on 1st October 2008 by the Government of the Republic of Zambia. At reopening, the institution began offering a two-year program to train Certified Midwives. This marked a significant step in restoring healthcare training at the college.
In 2016, the midwifery program was upgraded from a certificate to a Diploma in Midwifery, extending the training period to three years. This upgrade reflected a strengthening of the academic program. Later, in 2018, the college introduced a Diploma in Registered Nursing, further expanding its academic offerings.
Currently, the college offers two programs:
Educating for excellence in nursing and midwifery.
